Support in the context of the storms in Switzerland
The municipality of Vaduz is supporting those affected by the storms in Switzerland by donating a total of CHF 100,000 to the Liechtenstein Red Cross and the neighboring canton of Graubünden "Region Moesa".
Severe thunderstorms, storms and torrential rain in the cantons of Graubünden, Ticino and Valais caused major destruction. Hundreds of people had to leave their homes, several were killed or are still missing.
The Swiss Red Cross (SRC) is supporting those affected in this emergency situation. It is deployed where other aid options have been exhausted and coordinates closely with other Swiss aid organizations and the donation committees on the ground.
The Liechtenstein Red Cross (LRK) has also responded immediately and is supporting its neighbors with an amount of CHF 25,000.00 from its disaster fund. The LRK is collecting further donations to help those affected in the storm area, which will be sent directly to the SRC.
A contribution will provide direct financial aid for destitute families who have suffered damage, support for reconstruction and a degree of stability for people who receive no other support.
In the canton of Graubünden, the municipality of Lostallo/Region Moesa is the worst affected. A donations committee has been set up for the region to distribute the donations to the affected communities. The donations will be used to restore the destroyed primary services (water supply and purification, power lines, cleaning and securing the streams and the area). Support will also be provided to severely affected private individuals from the region.
The municipality of Vaduz would also like to make a contribution to support the people in need and has allocated a contribution of CHF 100,000.00 for this purpose. The Liechtenstein Red Cross and the neighboring canton of Graubünden "Region Moesa" will each receive CHF 50,000.00.
