New construction of solar folding roof system at Fabrikweg Spoerry
In order to determine a possible location for the realization of a solar folding roof system, various locations were examined on the basis of area evaluations, simulations and their economic viability and, once all the test results were available, Fabrikweg Spoerry was defined as a suitable location. Following the preparation of a preliminary study, the project is to be implemented and completed by November 2025.
Photovoltaic systems are already installed on the Spoerry site. With the installation of an additional solar folding roof system, the in-house production on the Fabrikweg Spoerry parking area can be increased by a significant proportion and thus a considerable part of the electricity requirement can be produced independently of the electricity market.
The overall concept of solar power production, charging infrastructure for electric vehicles and the intelligent use of battery storage systems will make an important contribution to energy autonomy. The decentralized production of renewable energies and sustainable mobility is promoted, the grid infrastructure is optimized and a contribution is made to replacing fossil fuels.
The municipality of Vaduz has held the Energy City label for 25 years. As a highly visible and aesthetically attractive object, the solar folding roof is a further sign of the sustainable development of the municipality of Vaduz.
At its meeting yesterday, the municipal council approved a commitment credit of CHF 2,200,000.00 for the implementation of this project.
