Florian Meier elected mayor
In the mayoral by-election on August 25, 2024, Florian Meier (FBP) was elected the new mayor of Vaduz with 1,397 votes. The voter turnout was 52.15 percent. The election was necessary because Petra Miescher announced her resignation in May 2024.
Florian Meier had been deputy mayor of the municipality of Vaduz since May 2023 and had already been in charge during Petra Miescher's absence due to illness and following her resignation. He grew up in Vaduz, is married and has three daughters.
Due to his new role as mayor, Claudia Bartholdi (VU) will move up to the municipal council in the 2023 municipal elections as the VU candidate with the highest number of votes who was not elected, thus restoring the distribution of seats as determined by the voters in 2023.
The municipality of Vaduz wishes Florian Meier a good start to his work.
