Future Day in the municipality of Vaduz

On Thursday, November 14, 2024, the municipality of Vaduz held its Future Day. Two girls and six boys took part. They were given insights into different areas of the municipality of Vaduz. These included the waterworks, the building administration and the forestry service.

Turbine found at Landgasthof Mühle

During construction work in the Landgasthof Mühle area, a turbine was found in the ground. This discovery was reported to the Office for Culture, which inspected and secured the site. It turned out that the turbine came from the former Jenny & Spoerry spinning mill hydroelectric power plant and must be preserved at the site. An archaeological display case will be erected for this purpose and will be open to the public in future.

Voting and application for naturalization

The vote on the initiative to repeal the law on “Liechtenstein Broadcasting” will take place on October 27, 2024. Citizens will also vote on an application for naturalization.

New cathedral vicar in Vaduz

Canon Herbert Graf will take up his post in Vaduz in January 2025. He succeeds Canon Josef Otter, who has been appointed full professor of canon law at the University of Leuven in Belgium.

Swearing-in ceremony for mayor and deputy mayor

Prime Minister Daniel Risch has sworn in Florian Meier as the new mayor of Vaduz and Antje Moser as the new deputy mayor. The ceremony took place in the Prince Johannes Hall of the government building in Vaduz in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Sabine Monauni and Councillor Manuel Frick.

Vaduz flies the flag

The 2030 Agenda with its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) serves as a guideline for a healthy world in which future generations can also lead a good life. The municipality of Vaduz is taking part in the European Sustainability Week and hoisting the SDG flags in front of the town hall, in Zollstrasse and at the Ebenholz elementary school.

Sculpture purchase "Raumableiter"

The Bad Ragartz sculpture exhibition in Vaduz showcases a large number of works of art by renowned artists. The municipality of Vaduz has decided to acquire the artwork "Raumableiter" by Swiss artist Max Grüter for the purchase price of CHF 70,000.00.

Florian Meier elected mayor

In the mayoral by-election on August 25, 2024, Florian Meier (FBP) was elected the new mayor of Vaduz with 1,397 votes. The voter turnout was 52.15 percent. The election was necessary because Petra Miescher announced her resignation in May 2024.

Support in the context of the storms in Switzerland

The municipality of Vaduz is supporting those affected by the storms in Switzerland with donations totaling CHF 100,000.00 to the Liechtenstein Red Cross and the neighboring canton of Graubünden "Region Moesa".

Play box in the Bartlegrosch kindergarden

From August 27, 2024, parents and children aged 3 and over are invited to a "Join in Play Day" on Tuesdays between 01.30 and 03.00 pm and on Thursdays between 09.00 and 10.30 am. Parents will receive practical information on how to prepare their children for kindergarden and school.
